Nathan help act out – cross, prayer

Kim and Sam 3/25/16

Kim comfortable and wanting to be 1:1 today. I explained safety and length of time and that I’d come right in. She wanted magazines, scissors, and glue. I got her set up and reminded of safety with tools then stepped out.

Sit in other seat is better for control and safety.

Sam seems cheery. Helping glue.

Has scissors near her, but not using. Then used.

Read her notes – careful of making assumptions – ask why doing certain things…

Ex: “She seems very bored/bored”

Sam’s incessant requests for food

My talking non stop, Sam only commenting about eating lunch.

Sam’s higher and more consistent agitation.

What were her thoughts in these areas? May I explain my intentions…

Sam grabbed a different magazine. Those aren’t to cut.
Sam cutting and putting in box. Kim flipping through, looking at what Sam is doing, and commenting some. Lots of Kim giggling. Sam smiling a lot or at least calm.

Kim did not respond to request for popsicle tube.

Make observations, not assumptions, and ask lots of questions.

Explained what bunny is and that she always has it by her.

Do you have cell phone – if so text is great.

When noticing more agitation or even less cheeriness, be ready in case she starts getting heightened. Watch scissors carefully.

Bunny – put in notes.

Hi Susan,

Notes from sermon 3/13/16

Wherever you go, therefore…

As you go about your day, go with intended action. Share Jesus wherever you go.

Wherever I go, I make disciples.

Truth of eternity of heaven and hell is always on our mind.

Sharing is from a serving position.

(Story of Seaside Oregon – sharing on dock/bridge and when considering or sharing why I should share – if I know there’s a bomb under us that I know would kill everyone on the dock or bridge, wouldn’t I go tell them so we could all get off?!  Of course I would. I wouldn’t even be afraid of what they thought of me, how I looked, how loud and crazy I may sound because I know that if they don’t hear this now they are doomed.  I should feel even more confident and unashamed and not care about how others view me to share the truth to those bound to die and go to hell. How much more important to share and warn them about eternal death than warning about earthly death.

We’ve all been gifted with power enough to share. We are all the message tellers. We all have the biblical mandate.

Worshipper
Messenger of the gospel.
We have a Divine mentor
Intentionally look around

Maybe intentionally be ready earlier and not be so busy as to share.

Christian personality test…

I would love your professional opinion.  My first grader is struggling some with reading.  I haven’t been too concerned thinking that she just has a short attention span and wants to be able to read fast when she actually needs to slow down and look carefully at the word so she sounds it out correctly. She makes good guesses, but I don’t want her guessing when I know she can read the words. The bigger challenge is asking her to spell something. Just like in reading, she gets the first couple letters correct, then randomly writes or says the last ones. For example, spelling a word like “stop” might be “styrl.”

My mother in law thinks she needs vision therapy because my husband had to do that when he was a child to help his eyes track the words he was reading and apparently it is genetic because somehow both my husband parents had a test done and had the same issue.

She would like us to have her evaluated.  She goes to school at a video Academy and I am a facilitating teacher one day a week. The team is working with her to help her focus, not try to compete with her peers, and slow down. I spoke with one other teacher and she feels like my daughter’s ability is fine, she just needs to focus.

Do you know anyone who would be able to evaluate her?  We live in Santa Rosa, but could also go to Petaluma, etc.

Thank you very much,
Tawnya Smith
