To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing because I am on your mailing list and receive email promotional sales specifically directed to your store at the Village at Corte Madera. That store is the closest in location to myself and my relatives who planned a day trip to visit Pottery Barn today. Two traveled from Ukiah, and 2 of us from Santa Rosa. Their day started at 8am and we arrived together at the store after 10am. We all had looked at our recent Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, and Pottery Barn Kids promotional emails and we’re excited about sales for the day. It is a rare time to be able to make the trip to Corte Madera while my older children are at school and no one is working.  So, it was very disappointing to get to Corte Madera to find all three stores closed for inventory. I have gifts that were purchased for me for Christmas that were the wrong sized dishes (as my Great White dinnerware set has changed the plate dimensions since I originally purchased them) and this was my first opportunity to get to the store to make the exchange or return. While an employee who was outside the store when we arrived was very kind, I found myself exceptionally surprised that, with emails sent at least once daily, no email was sent addressing the store closure for the day. Had there been an email sent, we would have known and had been able to switch the day we were coming as we had two days to choose from. Now, however, the second day is not available any longer for us.  Again, I don’t know what to do other than offer the feedback that I trust you welcome as, in the past, you have a strong relationship with your customers.  I would highly recommend communicating with those on your email list when there are store closures of this nature.  I know we were not the only customers taken off guard and disappointed.

Thank you,

Tawnya Smith
