Comfort

Comfort:
Con forte – with strength

Need to give and receive daily encouragement
Christian life not meant to live in isolation
Encourage so that NOT be hardened by sin

Cheerleader vs. Coach
Sometimes we need different
Like giving birth to Ama Diana was trying to encourage and it wasn’t helpful however, midwife seemed mean harsh and too directive to others, yet it was exactly what I needed.
Ways of coaching can look a lot different

Having discernment on who needs what – need to parent differently.

2015-2016

Goal:
Instill how to learn, desire to learn, and love of learning.
Trivium: 1. What is 2. Apply 3.
Small mulit grade lets you move from curriculum and allows teaching youngers.

Pros and cons:
Fast teaching

Words for the girls

Amabella: beautiful heart – princess of beauty

Adeliza: character – princess of character

Avalina: precious – precious princess

We named all of you your names on purpose.  Part of your name means beautiful, because you are beautiful to us and to God!  God created you just as you are on purpose. You have been created in the image of God.  And although God made you beautiful on the outside without question, true beauty is on the inside. Beauty is not from outward appearance, but your heart. You can put in clothes to look fancy, but you put on the Holy Spirit leading your life and he changes your heart and therein is true beauty.

Amabella, you are strong and I am so proud of you. You have had to endure many challenges already, and I see God making you strong. Don’t give up. YOU “can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” May God empower you through His Holy Spirit to give you strength to do all he calls you to do with confidence, boldness, peace, and perseverance.  God loves you so much and so do I.  You will have struggles, you will fall and make mistakes, but do not let the enemy keep you there.  God’s mercies are new every morning. His forgiveness is freely available all the time.  “In this world you will have trouble, but I have overcome the world.”. Walk now and always in his peace and his strength. ” Don’t worry about anything… And the peace of God…”

Adeliza, you have such a sensitive heart. Your feelings can get hurt easily, you notice the needs of others, and you are always first to help your Nana. I remember you seeing or hearing fire trucks and wanting to pray for them. Also, when Auntie Tiff’s friend was so sick and then passed away, you continually prayed for her and her family.  God made you be able to express how you feel and have compassion on others.  Allow the Holy Spirit to keep working in you and using you to be sensitive to him, honest about your own experiences, and compassionate about those God puts in your life. (Verse about compassion)

Avalina, God has made you someone whose sparkling eyes, contagious smile, and silly personality light up a room.  What a wonderful thing to be able to do.  May you allow the Holy Spirit work in you in such a way that you always seek to use that influence for good and encouragement to others.  I want you to always hold onto the truth that YOU are created in God’s image.

As for your names, God gave them to us for you. So much of the meanings have shown to be so accurate.

More thoughts for school

Need a parent/teacher in service to get all minds wrapped around what we are doing and decision making process.

See who wants to be involved in what and how. Do some not want to come to meetings?

Should I start typing up a handbook and info and procedures book…

Mission and vision statements

Expectations from families by family or number of kids?

Can I make up a plan binder and schedule…

Look at realistically how things would be set up.

Like idea of podiums – could be music type ones too.

Not sure I like that everyone faces a wall/TV.

Perhaps we have a way to have all be together in another location too, like for chapel and whole group times. I’d like whole group calendar… Memory verse sharing time …

?s
How many DVDs per grade
How many full day schedules does this fill?
Is there time for field trips?  Trips to a library. Presentations…
What do we submit to A Beka?  Someone keeps record of: Attendance?  Report cards? Grade books?  Samples of work. (Does A Beka need copies of these?)

Weekly meetings. Share how things are going. Good and challenges. Children struggling. Brainstorming ideas of how to help with behaviors or academic needs…

How will it all be treated because there is more involved than just coming in and turning on videos and doing follow up teaching. There is work and projects to grade. (Could certain families take work home each night to correct?). Would I, as a sort of lead teacher, take on more of the roles of grading some of the work and deciding grades and filling out report cards?

Finances

2000 (or 1500 or 1000) – registration
1000 – DVD retainer
1654 – K4-6th video manuals and teacher keys (1517.35 +tax)
280 – Max cost of materials (256 +tax)
Total: $798 + additional start up expenses (518 + materials if 9)
If 10 = 416
If 15 = 244

Second year families receive lower rates to offset start up fees of the 1000 DVD fee and teacher manuals and kits

Each new child = must buy laptop…

Considering actual 9 students Harper Smith Dabel and Ridenour – materials = 1763.9 +tax= 1922.65 ÷ 9 = 213.63

A Beka costs

$1/grade for DVD
$1000-2000 – registration (15+, 10-14, 5-9)
$1000 – book retainer fee

Purpose

Our purpose is to support families in training up children in the way they should go through intentional, fundamental academics with conservative biblical standards and teaching at the core of everything we do.
